JAVA SOFTWARE DEVELOPER – SINGAPORE

REPORTS TO:

Product Development Manager and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or the General Manager in the CEO’s absence.

SUPERVISES: May supervise Junior Developers as advised from time to time.

WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Product Development Manager, Project Managers, Australian software development team, Business Analysts, Implementation Team.

JOB SUMMARY

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports directly to the Development Director, Development Manager, the CEO or in their absence, the General Manager.

Work closely with:

- Solutions software development team.

- Development Director and Development Manager.

-  Support team re schema change requests.

- Implementation team (trainers).

- Support desk.

- Customer’s IT staff occasionally who will enable direct client program access through their access.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR THE POSITION:

  • Sufficient qualifications that enable the ability to assume product responsibility as this position includes further product enhancement / development for which the employee’s skills will be utilised. · Experience working with other developers working both on-site and off-site/overseas.

  • Experience as Senior Developer being responsible for the junior and off-site team’s various priority developments that are under your control/responsibility.

  • Must have an intensive working knowledge of Java, GWT, MySQL and be able to work with other technologies and tools (e.g. VS2005, C#, SQL Server 2005, VB, ASP.net) as required from time to time to support the company suite of software products and other related modules as relevant.

  • The senior developer must have achieved a suitable pass rating in the company’s Java skills test that is accepted by the Product Development Manager.

  • It is preferred the developer has experience working with healthcare related products or worked in a team that supports a healthcare environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for, in conjunction with other senior Developers:

  • the development of medication management system and related suite of programs.

  • working with Senior Developers and other junior developers.

  • supporting staff undertaking software installations or conducting these themselves.

  • providing product support as necessary.

This position requires the incumbent to be self-motivated, talented and an experienced individual who will work via a virtual office from time to time and in-house. This position requires a person who truly understands customer service, is a self-starter and capable of working without constant supervision with project management capacity.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The person in this role shall conduct development and provide support for the software in accordance with Project plans and development requirements identified from issues which arise from the software or installation of the software or change order requests as discussed with the CEO and Development Manager.

Specific duties:

  • To design, code, test, implement the application software and prepare documentation for projects at a senior level, with minimal errors.

  • Ensure timely delivery of high quality application software which reflects the business requirements and design specifications as developed from time to time.

  • To provide expert technical advice and recommendations on content, development techniques and recommendations on new/changed requirements and/or impact of new technology on the system design or business solution.

  • Maintain documentation regarding the internal design of the software and interfaces.

  • Code review developer staff who are at the junior-mid level as directed by the Development Manager.

  • To work collaboratively with clients, the Development Manager, the CEO, business analysts and solution architects on all projects.

  • Provide support and maintenance of the software.

  • Responsible for the quality of the solution by providing mentoring, cross-skilling and expert consultancy services to various stakeholders.

  • Ensure system stability and reliability and conformity to audit and security requirements.

GENERAL TASKS:

The below responsibilities are of all staff to ensure appropriate working relationships are maintained, that Continuous Improvement is achieved and Occupational Health & Safety requirements are addressed.

General

  • Work collaboratively with other staff members.

  • Handle emails on a daily basis, responding accordingly.

  • Liaise with administration staff to ensure flights and accommodation are arranged as required.

  • Ad hoc duties as directed by CEO or General Manager.

Quality Assurance:

  • Suggest enhancements to existing procedures where appropriate and in consultation with CEO and General Manager.

  • Maintain a safe environment in the office area by using equipment according to suppliers’ instructions.

  • Participate in audits as scheduled.

  • Participate in document control systems development and maintenance.

Work Practices:

  • Demonstrate an ability to appropriately plan procedures and complete in an appropriate time frame.

  • Be aware of appropriate use of stores, equipment, the use of energy (i.e. electricity) Communication.

  • Communicate effectively with clients.

Safety:

  • Ensure all accidents, incidents, difficulties, faults or breakdowns are reported immediately and documented accurately.

  • Assist in maintaining a clean safe environment for colleagues and visitors.

  • Adhere to occupational health and safety requirements.

  • Become familiar with the emergency procedures.

  • Promote safety awareness in the work place.

  • Report concerns and safety issues to the CEO or General Manager.
